The goal of treatment at Acadiana Addiction Center (AAC) is to facilitate the clients' journey to long-term abstinence from drugs and alcohol. Extended Residential Care is a treatment option available for patients who have completed primary care at AAC or through another program. This level of care allows patients to continue the process of growing in their recovery and the opportunity to work though ongoing issues in a safe, nurturing environment.t Male patients continue care at Acadiana Addiction Center, while female patients move to the Belle of the Oaks. This program is highly recommended for patient with a history of chronic or continual use, or self defeating behavior patterns which prevent or impede their recovery. It is common for these patients to experience difficulty adjusting to real life situations early in recovery. Through the extended care environment, patients will be able to strengthen their recovery foundation which increases their chances of success in a lifetime of sober living. Their clinical intention is to pick up where primary treatment left off in a serene, structured setting where patients are monitored 24/7. Their extended residential programs provide a safe and therapeutic environment to continue their journey in recovery. This level of care requires a minimum three-month commitment. It provides the bridge that allows patients to continue learning and applying recovery skills until they are ready to move forward. The patients progress through three phases while in extended care. Each phase addresses and reinforces the specific life skills needed for successful recovery. The patients are expected to demonstrate the necessary skills, knowledge, and awareness required in each phase.
