CREATE is a not-for-profit organization in New York State that provides 24-hour-a-day Transitional Shelter, In-Patient and Out-Patient Rehab and Counseling services. Services include: treatment and recovery services for alcohol- and chemically-dependent men and women; specialized services for those who have co-occurring mental health and chemical abuse issues; transitional living for homeless young adults; permanent housing and support services for single persons in recovery; vocational counseling, job preparation and placement; and emergency food distribution for the hungry.

Mission Statement: The primary mission of CREATE is to confront the issues of homelessness, poverty, chemical abuse and unemployment as they impact Harlem and other communities in New York.

I am interested in what create, Inc. has to offer in reference to housing for homeless individuals who are leaving treatment. I have over 29 months in sobriety and would like to begin my recovery in a safe environment until I can find adequate and affordable housing. Please help!

I have been in and out of long term rehabilitation programs,out patient programs and residential since 2001. I am an alcoholic and homeless. I am in need of housing PLEASE HELP I receive a SSI check every month due to my disability.

Many religious organizations offer transitional housing at no cost as part of their ministry services. Many also offer payment assistance for those that qualify. We list these resources.
Through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, grants are provided to sober homes and transitional housing facilities for those who cannot afford alcohol and drug treatment.
Many transitional housing locations provide housing on a sliding scale basis. This is generally income based support that charges based on one's ability to pay. We find and list those resources.
