Freedom House is a Transitional Housing and Case Management Services for women in recovery and their children, originating from Mercer County. Program is supported by the Mercer County DHS - Office on Addictions and DMHAS. No fees charged to families, but residents must save what they would typically pay in a fee in a savings account toward independent housing. Referrals must be stable in recovery and have a goal of family reunification. Clients may have their children at admission or be working to secure custody. This program was created specifically for women in recovery who have housing barriers to getting custody of their children back, or who are at risk of losing custody of their children due to a lack of safe appropriate housing.

Yes, in my personal opinion, we need more of these in NJ, This program is about empowering women to be the person , and mother they were meant to be before substance abuse. I recommend this to anyone who is struggling, and or if you aren't sure what to do in life. This program has exceptional staff, and above and beyond bedside manner. If this is testing between 1-10, I would give it a 13!

This program is a God Send. The people who work for this program, are hidden angels. I will never forget the first day I came here. I was so insanely scared out of my mind, because this was so new to me. I definitely was welcomed with open arms, without judgement. For me, that is huge, with being your own worst critic as it is. Very quickly I warmed up, and now, we have formed a family. A family that my higher power picked for me. I couldn't be more blessed and I thank everyone at this program. Kristina Vanlaningham, is one of the most compassionate, warm, and comforting person I have ever met. She made things easy for my transition, and was a great ear to listen. I never knew some people could be as nice as she is. I thank this program for everything today. I recommend this program to anyone who isn't sure of their future, any mom who is fighting for their baby, or babies. ----- This is amazing. I am very thankful.
