It was a lock down facility that was not geared to the health of their patients. If we ever received vegetables, it was from outside sources. Even though we paid for 1200 dollars a month.

Controlled. And we had to be verbally abused by Miss Theresa to show us how low and horrible we were because of our bad choices. She made us lay in our single wide beds for 4 weeks at a time writing in a journal that we were bad and didn't deserve the outside until she deemed so

My experience at Shining House Light Ministries was a true experience in suffering because the owner herself was more about proving others were worse than her mistakes. She herself has over dozens of felonies and will tell you she has been reformed due to Jesus and the AA Program. It's a lie in that respect. This woman verbally berated me and also insulted me on the basis that my parent had few funds to send me to her program and labeling me a lazy addict. I actually was awoken one morning, while being sequestered with no reading materials, but also having to clean her quarters of the lobby area, and she yelled at me, "You spoiled brat! You don't deserve sobriety" - " Your mom and dad paid for this and you don't deserve anything; You are a spoiled, and un-gracious child! - I was 43 years old at the time and had a job for 22 years and paid my own way for years. I had been very loving with my parents but for this weirdo who is taking my money to talk this way was certainly unacceptable. I felt like I was imprisoned with no way out. I literally had to escape one day. She does not help with sobriety. She is just interested in taking your money. Do not spend time here. There are many better ways to get sober.
