Sinai House is a transitional housing program in Washington DC.  We provide  two-bedroom, two-bathroom, fully furnished apartments to families who are homeless.  In 1992, then-mayor Sharon Pratt Kelly made a special appeal to the residents of Northwest Washington to help solve the growing problem of homelessness in Washington DC. The Temple Sinai Social Action Committee set out to identify and create a meaningful response. Over the next year, the committee met with social workers, caregivers, philanthropists and community leaders to determine the best course of action. What resulted was the design of a family-oriented residence that would give homeless families the support they needed for two years to transition to stability.
