Description: Portland West's mission is to eliminate the conditions of poverty and strengthen the bonds of community in Portland's West End and Parkside neighborhoods as well as across the city. Portland West accomplishes its mission by providing community building programs and education and skills development programs for children, low to middle income families and at-risk youth, ages 16 to 24. We also renovate/rehabilitate buildings into affordable housing as well as collaborate in building single family housing for low-income, first time buyer families. People from generations of Maine families and new Maine residents, including new immigrants, come to Portland West for programs that help to change or enhance the conditions of their lives and strengthen neighborhood ties.
