The Palmetto House was established by the Dorchester Interfaith Outreach Ministries in 1989 in response to needs arising from Hurricane Hugo.
The Palmetto House is a temporary residence for single women and families who find themselves homeless.
The mission of the Palmetto House is to provide a safe and comfortable residence and nourishing meals while assisting residents in the successful transition into the workforce, a stable home and becoming a self-reliant and contributing member of the community.
