The Blue Door is a residential addiction recovery house for adult men in the Kansas City area. They are not affiliated with any organizations and are privately owned and operated (they also own and operate the Overton House). The Blue Door is located in Independence, MO in a safe, residential neighborhood near the stadiums within walking distance to the KC Metro and Indy bus lines, and close to several AA and NA meeting locations. Maximum Occupancy: 9 men. Parking: 8-10 spaces (driveway and street parking). Residents must have 30 days clean/sober (or 21 if coming directly from treatment), must be active in recovery, and employed (or willing to begin working immediately). Rent is $140/week and includes a room in a fully furnished house, all utilities, cable, wifi, streaming services (and access to computer/printer), landline phone, and in-house laundry. Two mandatory in-house 12-step meetings are required per week, and residents must also attend at least two other outside meetings per week for their recovery.
